"Can you see????"
Tonight, Andrew and I had the opportunity to help with the National Federation of the Blind's fundraiser. Each year, the NFB holds a barbecue, and we volunteered to walk some of "the blind" (oohhh...that sounds bad) around various parts of the city to sell tickets. Andrew and I were able to pair up with Justin, who's a member of generation church. It was so much fun! We met some interesting folks, and we managed to sell 24 tickets. At $7 each...that's pretty good. Our last stop was where we hit the jackpot. It was the sweetest man, a retired orthodontist who enjoyed our company...very much! Not to sound all cocky, but he was a huge fan of me. I know that sounds bad, but it was just so cute how he kept asking Andrew things like, "How'd you get so lucky?" Hey, it made my day. The day I'm not attractive to an 82 year old...I'm in trouble ;-) He bought 7 tickets, and Justin said that I could be the MVP for the day. Other highlights: almost getting attacked by a dog, seeing a man with his t-shirt tucked into his underwear, having a lady on a guilt trip who said "no" at first chasing us down in her car to make a donation, and meeting a super sweet couple who we got to talk with for a few minutes (their daughter was adorable!) Probably the funniest moment, which unfortunately I missed, was Andrew's van story. Volunteers dropped everyone off on their assigned streets. As Andrew was getting into the passenger seat of the van, the driver looked over at him and quickly asked, "Can you see???" After Andrew said, "Uhh, yes," the driver handed him some papers and said, "Good. I'm looking for Whittaker Street." Andrew almost died telling me that story. Sadly, we didn't take any pictures. Are you surprised? We finished off the night with pizza and cupcakes. What a good Monday.

A few days in Greenwood...fishing and singing!
Well, friends, I know you're all shocked beyond belief that I'm updating my blog twice in two weeks. So am I. However, I have some pictures that are just too cute not to share.
Last weekend, Andrew and I (Gavin too!) headed to Greenwood on a Friday afternoon. I had to sing in Evie Wilson's wedding on Saturday, so we thought we'd just make a trip out of it! I just love going home. It's always fun to see what Mom and Dad are doing new to the house, hear stories about how Reuben (their cute chocolate lab) has run away and returned, and spend time with them! On Friday night, Mom and Dad made us an incredible dinner, including some macaroni and cheese! On Saturday, after I practiced for the wedding, we all went to the pond for some fishing. This pond is actually land that was once my great-grandfathers, now it's my PaPa's land in the country. The pond on the land is pretty big, but they had to re-stock it about 7 years ago. Apparently, it was having some issues. So, we're always concerned as to whether we'll catch any good size fish out there when we go. It's always fun though, regardless! We found out that Beth, Josh, and Levi were in town on Saturday too! They stopped by the pond to say hello right in the middle of what should be Levi's nap time. We got some CUTE pictures of him. It's hard to believe that he's 8 months old...just like it's hard to believe we'll be married for 8 months tomorrow!!!!!! Crazy! Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Bad blogger update...
It's official. I'm a horrible "blogger." Why can't I just do a little bit all along instead of having to do a huge catch-up every two months? I guess I'll never learn. Well, here it is, all the random stuff in no particular order:
1. Duke: Yes! NCAA tournament champs. I can't begin to go on and on and on and on...and on and on about how excited I was that they won on Monday. Too bad I was working all night.
2. Work: I am now working night shift. Yippee. It's actually going well, even though it takes some adjusting at times. Which leads to #3.
3. We decided that we needed an office space for Andrew, since I'd be sleeping during the day after work. So, we made the big move to the two bedroom apartment, and we're still in the same apartment complex. We're closer to the pool, with a much better view...so that's nice! That also means no house hunting for a while, since we signed another lease. We had been looking a lot before we decided to do the two bedroom thing, and I just don't think we were ready! That's a crazy amount of work!
4. We have become addicted to "the Office." I mean, who isn't really? One of our favorite things to do is pull up Netflix on the computer to watch an episode. We're almost caught up to the current season. I have never seen Andrew laugh this much before. He was literally crying last night during the episode where Dwight pranks everyone with the fire drill and Kevin busts out the snack machine for food. Awesome!
5. Gavin and Sara Lynn graduate this May. I think that is insane! I am so proud of them both...and very excited about Sara Lynn's graduation gift that I bought yesterday! We'll be going to Gavin's graduation on a Friday, then leaving for Anderson for Sara Lynn's.
6. Another addiction: smoothies! Andrew and I are having smoothies on a regular basis. We are trying to eat healthier. It's going well, but we still have an occasional pizza. That will probably never cease to exist ;-)
7. Andrew and I both had birthdays in the past few months. I am married to a 30 year old! Wow. We didn't do anything huge to celebrate our birthdays...just had fun spending them together. We definitely broke the health food kick we were going for...let's just say that!
8. Movies we've watched recently...
-"The Box" (weird)
-"The Time Traveler's Wife" (I liked it...)
-"New Moon: The Twilight Saga" (pretty good for movies that Andrew and I vowed once never to watch
9. We broke down and bought a new TV, and I must say that it was just in time. I know Andrew was thrilled to watch the NCAA tournament on it. He's really happy about it, and that makes me happy too!
Ok, I know this is a pretty pathetic update. However, these are just some of the things that are going on in our lives right now. I will try to be better about blogging by putting up more pics, but I'm not promising anything.

I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried...
What a day! Well, I hope you're in for a crazy story from today.
6:15 I walk downstairs to get in my car just as always. As I make it to the bottom of the stairs, I see three police cars. Right in front of my car (near the next apartment building across the lot) there was an officer talking with someone. That's all I could see. It was still pretty dark outside. Honestly, my first thought was, "Ok. One of these guys has to move so that I can go to work!" Right about that time, I heard a police officer yell,
"Ma'am. You need to go back inside to your apartment....NOW!"
That's when I just froze, looked at him, and said, "Ok..."
I ran upstairs, got Andrew, and called into work to tell them that unfortunately, I would be barricaded in my apartment until further notice. Honestly, my heart was racing just a little. What could be so bad out there that had that police officer in such a fuss?? Andrew and I turned the news on to see if anything was up, but really didn't find out much. We called the front office to the apartment complex, not really expecting to get anyone on the phone. However, we were a little concerned to reach a REAL LIVE answering service. Apparently, a LOT of residents were calling and they had to use a corporate service to handle all the calls. Ok...
So, Andrew and I then proceed to keep "re-checking the situation." Andrew would look down the stairs, with me yelling in the background, "BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!" Around 7 am, Andrew noticed that people were getting in their cars. After he walked me to my car, I went to work...still not knowing what was going on.
While I was at work, Andrew did some snooping and found out the deal. Apparently, there was a domestic dispute and the guy ran into the woods with an automatic rifle...(a.k.a. machine gun) Seriously???
Yes, seriously.
Andrew's exact words: "We're moving."

FAILED!!!!!!!!!
So, here's the deal: I tried to be a good little "blogger" the other day and actually update this thing. Guess what? I totally FAILED. In my defense...I spent about 30 minutes typing, editing, re-reading the blog, but my 'save now' button apparently didn't work, or maybe the operator didn't click it when she thought she did. Oops.
Oh well. So, instead of going back into all of that...I'm just listing some updates. It's been way too long.
1. I am loving my job. In case you didn't know, I've been working as a nurse in the NICU at Richland since late October. I love it! It's so amazing, and I am learning so much from my wonderful preceptors. I look forward to a long time there!
2. I am so proud of "Voices of Lee" lately. I was a member of Voices way back when in 2002. I was so happy in December to watch as they made it to the top three on "The Sing Off," one of NBC's premiers this winter. Also, one of the members who was just entering as I was leaving, Jermaine Purifory, recently was voted through to Hollywood on American Idol. He was called "the best audition so far this season" by Randy Jackson. That's pretty good if you ask me. Please keep up with him, if you think about it. He's a great guy!
3. My husband turns 30 on Thursday!!!!!!! Wow. I remember thinking that 30 was up there, but I am convinced now that it's not. I can't wait to celebrate his birthday!
4. Andrew and I have been faithful Netflix customers for a while now. Some of our last movies have been:
-Julie and Julia (boo...not our fave)
-Four Christmases (yay)
-Charlie Wilson's War (??? You'll have to ask Andrew, because this little girl fell asleep)
-3:10 to Yuma (yay...although there was killing)
5. Andrew and I STILL haven't picked out pictures for our wedding album. Ahhh...I can't believe I'm being this slack! I mean, seriously?? It has nothing to do with Brantley. We've just been lazy about getting on that task. Ok, personal goal. I'm going to begin selecting pics for our album before we're celebrating our 1 year anniversary.
6. Speaking of goals...I would like to learn Spanish. I took the course in high school and college, and I can understand a small amount. However, I'd love to be able to communicate with our Spanish speaking patients and not have to depend on an interpreter. So, that's personal goal #2. I heard Rosetta Stone was good...pricey, but good.
7. I'm still at the couponing! I was supposed to go to a class for southern savers, but had to miss it! Emily Ann shared all of her info with me though, so at least I learned something! Last week, I made money off buying drinks for our bonfire. Crazy, huh?
8. I finally bought a new purse. I figured that it was time after about two years! Can you believe it? The straw that broke the camel's back was the fact that the lining had a hole in it. I kept losing lipstick in there. I found my ipod on the day I cleaned out that bag. I was wondering where that thing was! Needless to say...that bag's in the trash. Not even worth giving away...
9. We're having a pretty cool Super Bowl Sunday at generation church next week. Michael Boulware is speaking, and it should be pretty good! If you don't know Michael, he played at Florida State, then went on to the NFL. He played in the Super Bowl, too! Michael's a great guy, and Andrew and I are glad to call he and his wife (Jessica) friends. They also have the most beautiful kids ever, Michael John and Aspen. Seriously, they should be models!
Okay, I think that's all for now. This was a silly update to be honest. However, anything's better than nothing. I will try to follow up on my new year's resolution by being a better blogger. In the words of Beverly though, "I'm not promising..."

Welcome, Bradford!
This morning as I rolled over to check my phone, I was so happy to see a text message from my wonderful friend Jennifer! She had Eliot Bradford Peace, Jr ("Bradford") last night...or early this morning. Either way, it was while we were sleeping! I am so proud of her. She's one good looking mama...I mean, she just gave birth and looks amazing!! Anyway, Bradford is such a cutie, and I can't wait to meet him in person. Congratulations, Eliot and Jennifer!!!!

Shortcomings...
If there's one thing in the world that is the toughest for me, it is falling short. I have tried my entire life to be someone that makes the effort to be exactly where I need to be...in school, with my relationships, with singing, etc. However, I realized today (yet again) that I'm not perfect. Ha. Imagine that...(please note the sarcasm in that statement!)
Seriously, I don't think that I'm perfect, but sometimes we all have the tendency to think we're "exempt from messing up royally." I proved that theory wrong today. I am sad to look back and see how I allowed such a horrible attitude to ruin my day and be so hurtful. Days like this aren't fun to have on your record.
Romans 3:23 says, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." I find it funny that the 'fall short' isn't in the past tense. For me, that says a lot. It's a continual thing! I will never get to a point to where shortcomings are in my past. Sure, I must pray daily that I'll become more like Jesus, but unfortunately, I'll never arrive at perfection.
We've been talking about suffering (mainly in 1 Peter) a lot at generation church lately. Most of us suffer because we stink at being like Jesus. Those mistakes result in hurting ourselves and others in some way, shape or form. There's one thing that stands out to me most in learning about suffering-- Our suffering for Jesus transforms our faith and points us toward what we should strive to live for each day: an eternal relationship with Him. This relationship will no longer be hindered by our shortcomings or those of others. With that in mind, I can be glad and have faith to humbly say that the final outcome of my shortcomings is nothing less than Jesus offering His forgiveness towards me and protecting me despite how I fail him continually. That faith reveals God's glory, and with that in mind...the rest of this day can be good.
